Toyota has launched an upgraded version of the Toyota 4Runner in the US.

The Japanese firm has designed it to gaze as truck like as possible to give it “a more rugged, powerful stance”. It is taller, longer and wider than the outrecede ing model.

Changes over the feeble model include a fresh front grille, a fresh roof rack and fresh bumper guards.

The body-on-frame construction of the feeble model remains, while two different four-wheel drive systems are offered. High-spec models acquire the permanent four-wheel drive system with a centre-locking differential for improved off road performance.

Two engines are offered: a 266bhp, 278lb ft 4.0-litre V6 and a 155bhp, 178lb ft 2.7-litre four-cylinder unit.

Its larger size means it’s more spacious inside than the outrecede ing model. It can seat seven and options include sat-nav, leather seats and a rear-view monitor.
